Chilling body camera footage captures the moment a wounded Bristol cop shoots and kills the crazed Connecticut man who fatally shot two other officers.
The dramatic police video includes the sound of bullets flying and a woman screaming hysterically in the background as police officer Alec Iurato, already wounded by cop killer Nicholas Brutcher, limps past the attacker’s home in Redstone Hill, gun in hand, as he radios for backup.
“Shots, shots,” Iurato is heard telling the dispatcher. “More cars. Send to everyone.
“Officer shot, officer shot,” he says, grunting in pain in the video.
“Oh, face, face, face,” he says, panting.
Bristol Police Sgt. Dustin Demonte and Officer Alex Hamzy were already dead or dying after Brutcher ambushed the officers from behind, according to video released Sunday by the Connecticut Office of the Inspector General.
The IG’s office said Brutcher fired more than 80 rounds at the officers.
Body camera footage shows Bristol police officer Alec Iurato shot and killed Nicholas Brutcher after he and two colleagues were ambushed last week. Connecticut State Police The video shows an injured Iurato calling a dispatcher for help while walking around the house. Iurato shot and killed Nicholas Brutcher after heading toward the police cruiser. Iurato reported “suspect down” after firing a shot.
With the woman continuously screaming in the background, Iurato limps to the front of the house, before multiple shots are fired and he is backed into the back of a police cruiser.
At one point, a man can be heard moaning, but it’s unclear whether it’s one of the downed officers or Brutcher’s brother, Nathaniel, who was injured in the shooting.
Iurato then fires a single shot, striking and killing Brutcher outside the house.
“One down. Suspect down,” he radios.

Investigators said the three officers were drawn to the home by a false 911 call and were standing by a side door talking to Brutcher’s brother, Nathaniel, when the killer came up from behind and opened fire with a AR-15 style assault rifle.
The police have not revealed the motive behind the senseless killing.
