Xander Schauffele will face the Leadership Championship alone this weekend and will try to defend himself from people like Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay. Winner alongside his good friend Cantlay earlier this season in the Zurich Classic, the current Olympic gold medalist has been left without a solo victory on the PGA Tour for a long time.
The last time he entered the winning circle at the 2019 Champions Tournament, only one of Schauffele’s five career victories has come in a full-blown field game event. He will try to add that total and in the process push himself into the final seven weeks of the 2022 PGA Tour season as the FedEx Cup playoffs are fast approaching.
Defending champion Harris English and PGA Tour veteran Webb Simpson are also in the mix and both need a good end to their years. With these two completing the cast of competitors, a weekend full of fireworks is expected to take place at TPC River Highlands.
