Apple iPad (2022) teardown with iFixit

The tenth-generation iPad launched in October with a redesigned look and specs that closely resemble the fourth-generation iPad Air from 2020. The new flagship iPad was subjected to a teardown by iFixit that revealed some interesting points like why it doesn’t have support for the second iPad. Removing the unlaminated 10.6-inch IPS Liquid Retina LCD reveals an almost identical internal design to the iPad Air 2020. The main difference is that the new iPad 2022 sports a horizontally placed selfie camera – the first of any iPad and this decision leaves no room for the magnets used in other iPads to help attach the Apple Pencil 2.

The teardown also shows that the logic board is glued to the chassis while the USB-C ribbon cable is soldered, making repairs very difficult. Check out the full video below.
