A four-year-old boy has died after an incident in a pool at a Center Parcs complex, police have reported.
Emergency services were called to the leisure complex in Longleat Forest, Wiltshire, on Saturday morning.
Guests staying at the resort said the atmosphere was “very calm” after the death.
A spokesman for Center Parcs said it was “deeply saddened” by the tragic news and offered its support to the boy’s family.
Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a report was being prepared for the coroner.
It is believed the victim’s family had been planning to stay at the complex over the Christmas period.
A witness told The Sun her family had seen the incident on Christmas Eve and said her husband was told a child had been pulled from the water.
He added: “My daughter and my son saw it too – she’s quite upset.”
Center Parcs UK confirmed the incident took place at the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, which features water rides and slides.
A mother-of-five staying at the leisure complex said the atmosphere was “very calm” and the park’s TV channel showed a message that the pool was closed following a “serious medical incident”.
The woman, who is from the Midlands and did not want to be named, said: “Luckily we didn’t see anything.
“Noticing a large crowd coming out of the plaza, we returned to our lodge for lunch before swimming.
“I looked at my phone and saw that the pool was closed due to an incident.
“The plaza is all open, the park market, gift shops, etc., there is only a temporary barrier at the entrance to the pool itself.
“But it’s very quiet.”
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Sadly, a four-year-old boy has been confirmed dead following an incident in Center Parcs Longleat Forest near Warminster shortly after 11am this morning .

Located on the historic Longleat estate, Center Parcs’ subtropical Swimming Paradise features a wave pool, ‘wild water rapids’ area and water slides.
A message on the site’s website reads: “The subtropical swimming paradise is home to thrilling rides and water slides, from our gravity-defying Tropical Cyclone to our family-favorite wild rapids.”
It is not yet known in which area of the pool the incident happened.
