Man charged with attempted murder after couple found with serious throat laceration

A man has been charged with the alleged attempted murder of his partner in Sydney’s south-west after she was found with a serious laceration to her throat.

NSW Police were called to a home in Fairfield after reports of a stabbing about 7.30am on Monday.

They were told that a 54-year-old woman had been taken by a family member to the hospital for emergency treatment of her throat.

She has since undergone surgery and remains in Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

Police officers seized a large knife from the home and arrested a 57-year-old man.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and has been charged with grievous bodily harm/wounding to a person with intent to murder.
