It was another night to forget about Frank Lampard when Arsenal secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Everton in their pre-season friendly at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 33rd minute of the match and gave an assist to Bukayo Saka, who scored Arsenal’s second just three minutes later.

Arsenal’s first goal came from a corner when Pickford rushed out of his line to hit the ball and was unable to make contact. As a result, the ball fell to Jesus who took advantage of the opportunity and shot it into the back of the net.

The Gunners extended their lead in the 36th minute when Saka put Jesus’ ball in the area after Martinelli had failed to do so. It ended up being a simple end for the England international, but once that proved costly for Everton.

Jesus was the star of the show for north London. He faced the physical battle with Yerry Mina and offered creativity to Arsenal.

Saka also caused constant problems on Everton’s left side with his straight runs and kicking feet on the right side of the pitch. If they had given him the service, he could have been on the scoreboard more than once.

Meanwhile, Everton experienced a two-part match. They looked lost in the first half and struggled to keep possession against the whole of north London. It was only after Lampard decided to change his entire XI to the half that they advanced into the game.

Anthony Gordon and Alex Iwobi were among those who came in, while Everton’s new signing James Tarkowski also appeared. Arsenal also made six changes, including Rob Holding and Eddie Nketiah.

Tarkowski was the axis of Everton’s defense. He made several crucial blocks to prevent the Gunners’ form from extending their lead. Meanwhile, teenage winger Stanley Mills – who is the son of former English star Danny – took a nice step towards the plate.
