Get ready to make a ton of wishes this week because we’re going to be catching a lot of “shooting stars” here in the Foothills.
Although the long-awaited annual Perseid meteor shower begins in mid-July and is on display until the end of August, it will be at its peak this week!
The International Meteor Organization has predicted that Albertans will see the largest number of meteors streak across the night sky on August 12-13.
So prepare your wishes!
Stargazers will also get a good look at the last supermoon of the year, but be warned that it could unfortunately affect seeing the Perseids at their ‘best’.
However, with 50-100 meteors falling an hour, viewers are bound to see something!
So escape the city lights, get some fresh air and enjoy the show!
(We’ve had a lot of nighttime activity here in the Foothills this week! These were sent in by J Lou De Veyra, Northern Lights, and Aurora STEVE!)
