Meet the “Material Girl” 2.0.
Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon released her first music single this week, following in her pop queen mother’s footsteps with a synth-heavy dance party anthem, Page Six reported.
The 25-year-old singer dropped the dreamy trip-hop tune “Lock&Key” under the stage name Lolahol, along with a steamy music video set in New York City locations.
In the video, the singer is seen moving around on the hood of an SUV, striking a pose and interacting with a clean meatloaf in a cemetery.
Near the end, she is shown doing splits on a beach wearing only a rope wrap and a fishing net around her waist.
Leon, who is also a model, has previously said she has no interest in the music industry because it is too similar to her “Vogue” superstar mother’s career.
“As for music, I can sing. I just don’t care. Maybe it’s too close to home,” he said Interview magazine last year.
But he apparently changed his tune, teaming up on the song with experimental artist Eartheater and songwriter Samuel Burgess.
Leon, who is Madonna’s daughter with Cuban dancer and fitness trainer Carlos Leon, also told the magazine at the time that she was more attracted to dance than music.
“I dance, I have a very specific sense of style and I’m interested in aesthetics, so I like to incorporate all these parts of myself into my projects,” she said.
“I want to create a world where models have more agency over what they’re doing, and not just silent clothes hangers. This is the age we’re entering in the fashion world: models as personalities and artists “, he said.
