“In the safety car we were unlucky,” Alonso explained. “We decided to box right after the safety car was finished. Other people behind us got lucky again and overtook us.
“On lap 20, or something like that, I had a problem with the engine with the battery, I was trimming the straights and losing eight tenths of a turn. I had to overdo the curves to try to keep up It was a very difficult race.
“It simply came to our notice then. The car has been very fast this weekend. Without the engine problem we were P3 in the race ahead of Lewis. Without the engine problem, that was still possible. “

Verstappen admits that Ferrari was faster than Red Bull in Canada
Max Verstappen has admitted that Ferrari was faster than Red Bull at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The world champion had to endure a late challenge from Carlos Sainz in the last fifteen laps to secure the victory, extending his championship lead to 46 points.
“Overall, it was a pretty tough race for us,” he told Sky Sports F1. “I was expecting more pace with the car, but Ferrari seemed pretty fast in the race. It was hard to match Carlos in time.

Piastri confident of Alpine will be F1 driver in 2023
The leader of the Alpine team, Otmar Szafnauer, is confident that Oscar Piastri will be on the Formula 1 grid in 2023.
The 21-year-old Australian replicated the achievement of Charles Leclerc and George Russell by winning the Formula 3 title, or GP3, as it was then known, and the Formula 2 crown in consecutive seasons.
But Piastri has not been able to find a Formula One grid opening for 2022 even though he is backed by Alpine, but it looks like he will have his chance next year.
When asked by Canadian journalists if he thinks Piastri will be on the grid in 2023, Szafnauer replied, “Yes.”
“We don’t talk about the details of our contracts with the pilots and that’s something we never do,” Szafnauer explained. “So no matter how much I’d like to tell you, I don’t think I can.
“But when I say yes, that’s the plan.”

“It has given me a lot of hope that there are more things in this car, that the potential is really there if we can do the right setup,” Hamilton said. “We’re just trying to progress as a team,
“Going forward, we will be a little more careful when doing too many experiments, as it really makes it difficult for you over the weekend, especially if you only have the first and second dry practice.
“There’s a lot of learning this weekend and improvements we can make going forward, but at a very fast pace today. It’s so beautiful to look at. It hasn’t always been the case with this car.”

Lewis Hamilton was “overwhelmed” to finish on the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix
The seven-time world champion has struggled with his Mercedes this season and has only arrived in Montreal.
The design of this year’s cars has caused some teams to suffer bounces, known as porpoises, at high speeds, with Mercedes among the worst.
Hamilton needed help getting out of his car after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix a week ago and needed acupuncture and cryotherapy on his back to get to the grid.
The 37-year-old finished fourth in the Montreal rain on Saturday and did better in the race, winning the 184th podium of his career, but only the second of a difficult 2022.
