A man has been arrested in connection with the death of Trina Hunt in Port Moody, BC, the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed.
No charges have been filed, IHIT wrote in an emailed statement and therefore will not reveal the man’s identity.
“This is an ongoing investigation and no further details can be provided,” the sergeant said. David Lee on Friday.

Hunt was 48 when her husband Iain reported her missing on January 18, 2021, who said he had seen her that morning before leaving for work.
His remains were found by a member of the public south of Silver Creek in Hope on March 29, 2021, following extensive research by official crews and community volunteers.

Hunt was last seen in surveillance footage four days before she was reported missing. The family has been asking questions about the latest text messages sent from their phone in the days leading up to their disappearance.
On January 15, 2021, Hunt was texting a friend in Ontario. They talked about creating a “virtual cocktail” over the weekend, her cousin Stephanie Ibbott told Global News last May.

On January 16, Hunt received a text message from a former co-worker but did not respond. The next day, a reply was sent to the former colleague saying, “Delayed reply because I’m trying a ‘digital detox’ this weekend. I haven’t touched the phone all weekend.”
On January 18, Hunt’s husband reported her missing.

“I think it might not be her (texting),” Ibbott told Global News at the time, adding that during a family reunion, Iain had told them about digital detox.
Her husband had told the family that they were visiting a campsite in Hope on the weekend of January 15, 2021, and during the detox, Hunt was unable to contact him by phone.
In June 2021, the RCMP executed search warrants at Hunt’s home in Port Moody and Iain’s parents’ home in Mission, but made no arrests.

That month, Hunt’s family made a passionate call for information about his case, offering a $ 50,000 reward for advice leading to arrest and charges.

Ibbott described him as “bubbly, bright, welcoming, affectionate, thoughtful, passionate, generous and loyal.”
The Hunt case investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448.
