Manchester United XI vs Man City: Predicted line-up, confirmed squad news and latest injuries for the derby

The forward pair have suffered injury problems before and during the international break neither has fully trained in the week leading up to the derby.

Erik ten Hag will have to call on Antony at least as he looks to shape his attack after the winger returned safely from Brazil for training on Wednesday.

The United boss told reporters: “Harry Maguire is injured and I think for the rest we have some doubts.

“With Anthony Martial, he was training all week with the group, very happy with that situation. He is doing very well. Rashford is back in training, so we are happy with that as well.

“For the rest, only long-term injuries such as Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are unavailable.”

In defence, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez were set to start at the back regardless of Maguire’s fitness.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was forced to miss the recent win against FC Sheriff in the Europa League. However, Diogo Dalot’s impressive form of late should keep him at right-back.

A decision will have to be made on whether Tyrell Malacia keeps the left-back spot over rookie Luke Shaw. Ten Hag also have Casemiro and Scott McTominay competing to start in midfield.

Donny van de Beek (knee), Martin Dubravka (thigh) and Brandon Williams have occupied the treatment room in recent weeks.

Manchester United Predicted XI: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malaysia; Eriksen, McTominay; Antoni, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.
