Report: Canucks made it clear to players that roster changes would be made if losses continued

No one was happy with the Vancouver Canucks’ start to the season.

Not the players, not the coaching staff and, of course, the fans.

Unsurprisingly, the Canucks’ upper management was part of that crew as well.

“Obviously they started 0-5-2 and there was nobody in a very good head space. The last 48 hours had back to back wins and everyone felt a little better. But I think one of the stories that came out of this was that the Vancouver Canucks made it very clear to some of their players that if there were to be changes, it wouldn’t just potentially be the head coach.

“I heard what they said to some players [was] this: “Now we’ve had two coaches with this group and it’s not working so far, so if somebody who thinks we’re going to sit and wait and say, ‘Okay, this is the change we’re going to make.'” “, you might be wrong and the changes might be with the list.

“I think the players got that message loud and clear. We’ll see where this goes. It’s two big wins in 24 hours, but like I said, they made it very clear to the players that there would also be changes in the squad if things continue.” .

The Canucks got off to a historically bad start to their season, becoming the first team in NHL history to lose their first four games of the season while blowing multiple-goal leads in each.

With their win Thursday night in Seattle and Friday’s 5-1 home win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Canucks are no longer the 32nd-ranked team in the National Hockey League.

The Canucks return to action on Tuesday when they take on the New Jersey Devils at home.
