Sydney have been cleaner overall – fewer fumbles in this second quarter than the Demons, who have been very poor at kicking 50m.
They have kicked speculatively and long in contests too often, while the Swans have found more space in their goal area, where they look more dangerous from ground balls, as seen in Papley’s goals and that great long shot by Dylan Stephens.

Melbourne are defending well in the air, where May has been excellent with Buddy Franklin and Harrison Petty has been steady, but it’s last time in scoring territory where they are poor.
Petracca has been relatively smooth, suffering what looked like a cork in the first quarter. Sydney’s advantage in clearances belies Max Gawn’s obvious advantage in the ruck.
