Snow reduces travel

An accident at Hwy 97 and Dilworth Drive Monday.
UPDATE 4:15 p.m
Continued snowfall and slippery conditions mean the 97 freeway is much slower than usual during the afternoon commute.
There are no active accidents in the corridor, but drivers are reporting delays as they move around town on Harvey Avenue. Traffic is also slow on Gordon Drive and Pandosy Street.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time to reach their destination.
The City of Kelowna says crews have been out clearing the snow since it started falling on Friday.
We have all the equipment and staff possible to clear the way. Please drive, walk and bike carefully and be patient as they move through town,” the city said on social media.
Highway 97 is the responsibility of the provincial government while the city clears other roads.
UPDATE 12:50 p.m
Emergency crews are dealing with a three-vehicle crash at Harvey Avenue and Dilworth Drive that is causing major delays.
The accident involving a taxi is partially blocking the intersection. Witnesses say no one appears to be seriously injured and everyone was out of the vehicle waiting for the tow trucks to arrive.
Traffic is increasing significantly on Harvey Avenue.
There are also reports of a minor accident on the freeway at the Highway 33 intersection.
Police have advised drivers who absolutely must not travel to stay home.

Traffic is back to normal on Highway 97 near Old Vernon Rd. after a collision slowed travel on Monday morning.

Traffic on Highway 97 is slow in the southbound lane near the Kelowna International Airport Monday morning.
The collision appears to be in the southbound lane near the south end of Lake Ellison, traffic is backed up from Old Vernon Rd. at Jammery
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Kelowna calling for more snow accumulation near 5 cm. combined with strong northwesterly winds that are creating blowing snow conditions.
The snow is expected to taper off this afternoon as the low moves further south.
