Australian teen sensation Dyson Daniels realized her dream when she was selected in the NBA Draft, but it was her mother who stole the show from her.
The mother of Australian Dyson Daniels stole the spotlight in the 2022 NBA Draft on Friday (AEST).
Before Daniels was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 8 pick in the draft, he took to the stage with his mother Brikitta Kool-Daniels in his arms, a family moment that has since gone viral, reports the NY Post .

“Dyson Daniels will be a trending topic tonight,” tweeted journalist Troy Machir, including a photo of Daniels and his mother, who were dressed in a white dress and open heels.
“NBA Twitter will explode after seeing Dyson Daniels’ mother, ”one person tweeted.
“Dyson Daniel’s mother is a generational perspective,” one fan tweeted aside.
Another person asked if Daniels would be a trending subject because of his mother or his silver metallic dress, which one fan compared to “aluminum foil.”
Throughout the night, Daniels ’mother also shared several photos on Instagram from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
Daniels previously played with the NBA G League Ignite. The Australian product debuted with Australia’s senior national team in qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup in 2021.
His father, Ricky Daniels, began a professional basketball career after playing for NC State.
Daniels ’mother wasn’t the only father fans became obsessed with on the night of the NBA Draft.
Chet Holmgren was taken over by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the No. 2 pick, but spectators were immediately drawn to his father.
Many thought he bore a striking resemblance to villains in films like Wolf “The Dentist” Stansson from “D2: The Mighty Ducks.”
“Chet Holmgren’s father looks like a bad guy from the early nineties. Ponytail, blazer over black t-shirt,” one user said.
Another wrote, “Chet Holmgren’s father looks like the bad guy in the nursery police.”
