In a battle of defensive minds, the Cleveland Browns lead the division rival Baltimore Ravens 6-3 at halftime.
Neither team managed much offensively in the first half, with all of the scoring coming via field goals and both teams averaging 5 yards per play. Baltimore was particularly inefficient in the passing game, with Tyler Huntley completing just 9 of 15 attempts for 67 yards. The Ravens had a chance for a touchdown early in the game, but were stonewalled on fourth-and-1 from the Cleveland 7-yard line. The ensuing drive led to the Browns’ first field goal, which gave them an early lead.
Meanwhile, nearly half of Cleveland’s 43 total yards came on one play, an 18-yard scamper by Nick Chubb (8 carries, 31 yards). Cleveland drove into the red zone late in the first half, but a pass from Deshaun Watson (13-of-18, 105 yards) to David Njoku (3 catches, 28 yards) in the back of the end zone was dropped incomplete when Njoku got his feet tangled with Ravens safety Chuck Clark. That sequence led to Cleveland’s second field goal of the contest, which briefly gave the Browns a 6-3 lead that they took into halftime thanks to a missed (!) field goal by Justin Tucker.
