Google will bring live package delivery tracking to Gmail

Search engine giant Google has announced a new feature that would allow users to track product delivery status in the Gmail app.

“With the holiday season quickly approaching, it won’t be long before your inbox is filled with more order and shipment confirmations, tracking numbers, and even the occasional delay notice. So this year , Gmail is introducing new features to help you save time and stay on top of all your sendings,” said Ilya Brown, vice president of product at Gmail.

If you allow it, Gmail will automatically look up order status with your tracking numbers and display them in your inbox. Additionally, users can opt-out at any time through their Gmail settings.

The new feature is expected to come with a Gmail update shortly before the Christmas holidays.

In a related development, Google has finally found a permanent place for Google Lens on its search website.

Rajan Patel, Google’s VP of Engineering (Search Experience, Image Search and Lens) took to Twitter to announce that Google Lens will be available for easy access to the Search tab.

Previously, this arrangement was only seen in the Google and Chrome apps for phones. It will now be available on the Google.com website for computers.

With these users can directly tap the camera icon to enable the device camera or upload photos for visual image search.
