Today, during Microsoft’s big Xbox and Bethesda video game launch event, well-known game director and movie lover Hideo Kojima showed up to announce that he’s working on Xbox in his next game, and eh … hmmm. ..
Microsoft has spent almost an hour today showing countless trailers and teasers for a list of video games, most of which will arrive in Game Pass. Everything from Diablo IV to a new game of historical mystery, from Obsidian to vampires, cars and even some Starfield games! It was a solid show. But in the middle of that there was a moment with Hideo Kojima.
Rumors have persisted that Kojima was going to work with Xbox on a new game and today these rumors have been confirmed. But hey, barely.
“There’s a game I’ve always wanted to make,” Kojima said through translated captions. “It’s a whole new game that no one has seen or experienced before. I’ve been waiting a long time for the day when I could finally start creating it. With Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology and the changing industry trend , it is now possible to challenge me to make this concept never seen before.
“It may take a while, but I’m looking forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and look forward to some exciting news in the future!”
And that’s it! There is no information on what kind of game it will be, what platforms, a name or even a code name … nothing!
It’s almost amazing how little Kojima needed to share in order to make an appearance during today’s show. Looking online, it worked. People are already speculating on why Kojima had to wait so long and why he might be using cloud technology in his new game. And of course, online console fanboys, caught up in an endless console war, are already using the look to fuel the next round of Twitter forum wars and disputes as they show how much they love their consoles and plastic marks.

Microsoft also made a big deal on how all the games shown today during the event would be released over the next 12 months. It seems unlikely, however, that any project Kojima and his team are currently working on will be completed before June 12, 2023. It is likely that Xbox does not have this project, as no game was shown, but he seems to be cheating.
Kotaku has contacted Xbox about the Kojima game and whether it will be released in the next 12 months.
One day, I also hope to be so famous and loved that I can introduce myself to Kotaku and promise a great blog or review with a few quick words and a smile. But that day is yet to come, so you just read 464 words.
