Human remains found in a vacant block in South Australia have been confirmed as missing person Geoffrey McLean.
Detective Inspector Brett Featherby confirmed on Monday that the body of the 55-year-old father had been found in Salisbury South and his identity confirmed through DNA tests.
“When Geoffrey’s body was found, it had been dismembered, it was in a wheelie bin,” Featherby said.

“We have only recovered his torso. We are firmly focused on recovering the rest of his remains.
“The evidence suggests that people or a person was in the process of burying these remains and may have been disturbed.”
Featherby said the person or persons involved in the alleged killing were either burying the body or leaving its remains.

Featherby confirmed before McLean went missing on August 29 that he had been the subject of four separate attacks, including being attacked by a person with acid, beaten with a log cutter, his car set on fire and a bucket of acid thrown at him .
He has asked anyone with information about the alleged killing to come forward.
