Buckingham Palace says Queen Elizabeth II is under medical supervision as doctors are “concerned for Her Majesty’s health”.
The announcement comes a day after the 96-year-old monarch canceled a meeting of her Privy Council and asked her to rest. The palace says the Queen is “comfortable” and remains at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she has spent the summer.
Prince Charles, heir to the throne, and his wife, Camilla, are with the Queen after traveling to Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s summer holiday home, to be with her. Prince William, Charles’ eldest son, is also there, as is Prince Andrew.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss said on Twitter that the whole country is “deeply concerned” about Queen Elizabeth’s health.
“My thoughts, and the thoughts of the people of our United Kingdom, are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time,” he wrote.
The Privy Council, a group of the monarch’s top advisers, was due to formally swear in Truss and her new cabinet members at a meeting on Wednesday. The session will take place later.
The whole country will be deeply concerned with the news from Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

The British Parliament has Queen Elizabeth in its thoughts and prayers, spokeswoman Lindsay Hoyle said.
Those sentiments were echoed by Scotland’s first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, who said her best wishes were with the royal family.
We are all deeply concerned by the reports regarding Her Majesty’s health.
My thoughts and wishes are with the Queen and the entire Royal Family at this time.

“Along with the rest of the country, I am deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this afternoon,” said the leader of Britain’s opposition Labor Party, Keir Starmer. “My thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time, and I join everyone across the UK in looking forward to her recovery.”
Elizabeth marked seven decades on the throne this year. In recent months, she has increasingly relinquished duties to Charles and other members of the royal family as she struggles to get around.
More to come.
