Samsung announced today that it will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on February 1st at 10:30am PT/1:30pm ET. The company is expected to announce the S23 series of phones at its first in-person event in three years. The South Korean tech giant is organizing this event in San Francisco with the tagline “Get ready to share the epic.”
While Samsung’s press announcement only had a GIF indicating multiple camera arrays, it posted teasers on Weibo hinting at high-megapixel sensors and improved low-light photography. The first teaser said, “Wow-worthy resolution coming soon,” while the second teaser said, “Awesome night shots coming soon.”

Samsung used a 108-megapixel sensor on the S22 Ultra last year. Teasers released by the company indicated that it might use Samsung’s 200-megapixel sensor, which was launched last October, in the S23 Ultra.
The company’s latest phone is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. While there may be small changes to the design and specs across the line, it won’t be as drastic as deciding to dedicate an S-Pen slot to the S22 Ultra and effectively retiring its Galaxy Note line.
Just like last year, Samsung is allowing customers to pre-order the new flagship device without hearing about it in exchange for a $50 Samsung Store credit. Fortunately, buyers will have the option not to buy the device at all.
Samsung strategically places this event between the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, which has just concluded, and the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, which is scheduled for the end of February.
Last week, the Korean technology company released its results for the quarter ending in December, posting record profits in the past eight years. The company blamed the economic downturn and lower demand for smartphones as the main reasons for these numbers.
