Three gunmen are on the run after allegedly shooting a father twice and stealing a car overnight in Melbourne’s north.
Police are investigating the series of incidents, which they believe began with an argument outside a Lalor property shortly after 9pm yesterday.
Officers said two men in a Nissan X-Trail approached a man on Maguire Street and threatened him with a firearm.

The 41-year-old man, from Lalor, fled in his car but the criminals allegedly shot him from the Nissan.
“It was very, very scary,” she told 9News.
In the chaos, the car hit a residential fence before the victim managed to escape.
“I saw the car shoot and I almost had a heart attack,” the victim’s partner told 9News.
“They were like two meters away from me and my baby.
“He tried to get away but they followed, then they pulled in front of him and that’s when they shot.”

A short time later, three people approached a man sitting in a silver Skoda sedan on Carney Street in Lalor.
The 28-year-old was not threatened with a gun before an altercation.
The trio then fled in the victims’ Skoda sedan.
No one was injured in the two incidents.
Police continue to search the area for the stolen vehicle.
