It’s November, and people are scrambling to figure out their game of the year picks. The release of God Of War Ragnarök is presented to them like ants in a terrarium. Preparing to enter.

What is the release date for God Of War Ragnarök?
Officially, November 9. But people are reportedly already buying copies from game stores and getting God of War PlayStation bundles instead of the ones they bought for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Wow!

Santa Monica Studio game designer and creative director Cory Barlog, who has led some combination of animation, direction or writing for the God of War franchise since 2005, returns as producer for Ragnarök. Eric Williams, who Barlog once described as “a beast,” is directing.

God Of War Ragnarök Coming To PC?
In the end… maybe? Is possible?
God of War has historically been a staunch, PlayStation-exclusive franchise, but 2018’s God of War came to PC this January. The harbor is impressive, so it wouldn’t be a total surprise. However, when this 2018 port came out, Barlog told Game Informer that a PC-ready Ragnarök depends mostly on Sony’s ingenuity.
“Right now, we’re taking it one game at a time, kind of looking at each one and determining, ‘OK, is this the best?’ And we’ll measure how it does,” he said in the interview. “Do people enjoy it? Did we do it right? Is there something we did wrong? What can we do better in the future if we do this again? But at the end of the day, it’s ultimately Sony’s decision.”
Yes. Thanks for asking. Currently, there’s a conspiracy that has Xbox devotees, torn over Ragnarök’s mind-blowing PS5 graphics, spreading leaked Ragnarök information online like petulant babies spitting out their milk. I’ve seen no tangible evidence to support this theory, and relatedly, I’ll never understand why strangers care what console another stranger has. Neither Sony nor Microsoft will ever hand out a gift basket as a reward for posting 1,000 tweets about each other, you heard it here first.
Is God Of War Ragnarök the last game in the rebooted series?
Yes it is. Barlog confirmed this in a 2021 interview with YouTuber Kaptain Kuba, saying, “The first game took five years. […]So, if you’re thinking, ‘Wow, a third on that very thing [length of time]”, we’re talking about a period of nearly 15 years of a single story.”
Barlog went on to say that taking around 15 years just to finish one God of War story arc would feel “too much of a stretch”. He’s taking over the assignment while you’re ahead of the pack mentality.
And that’s no reason to panic: Ragnarök isn’t the end of all God of War games, it’s just the conclusion of 2018’s God of War.

Yes, you can finish God of War before November 9th. It’s a great time to refresh your memory or get a taste of the story-driven series, but keep in mind that the game will take you 30 hours to complete. Take your time, queue up some tips, and be open to the game’s laid-back “Give Me a Story” mode, which speeds up combat a bit.
Do you care about God Of War Ragnarök?
I had never really thought about it before. I’m excited for Ragnarök, no doubt. But do I care?
