An American car enthusiast has paid homage to Mad Max’s iconic Ford Falcon XB “V8 Interceptor” coupe by turning an epic supercharged V8-powered Dodge Challenger Hellcat into his very own Pursuit Special.
Inspired by the 1979 Australian cult classic film Mad Max, Florida man Robert Selby selected the modern American equivalent of the Ford Falcon coupe to be the star car of his build: a Dodge Challenger Hellcat 594 kW 6.2 liter supercharged V8.
Dubbed the “Madcat,” Mr. Selby fitted the Dodge Challenger with a number of parts similar to those found on the 1973 Ford Falcon “V8 Interceptor.”

The owner got a front bumper that looked like the “Concorde” body kit from the original Mad Max movie car “Pursuit Special”.
Fun fact: The original styling of the Mad Max movie car was created by Australian Peter Arcadipane, who became a Mercedes-Benz designer in Germany.
The black body and dark wheels are obvious links to the original movie car.
However, the “supercharger” sticking out of the hood of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat is just for show.
In front of the rear wheels are four tailpipes, on each side of the vehicle, which pay homage to the car from the film, although it is unclear if they are functional or just for show.
The Dodge Challenger coupe body style might resemble the Falcon XB, but for Mr. Selby, that’s not enough.
A 1970 Ford Torino body sits in the Florida man’s backyard, the rear section of which Selby plans to graft onto the Madcat, aiming to recreate the Falcon’s body.
Mr. Selby has set up a page on social media platform Facebook for those who want to follow Madcat’s build process, as well as his work on Breaking Bad vehicle homages such as Walter White’s Pontiac Aztek and the Fleetwood Bounder RV converted. – Methamphetamine laboratory.
