Vancouver Mayor-elect Ken Sim is expected to provide an update Monday morning on the mayoral transition and plans for the incoming administration.
Sim beat incumbent Mayor Kennedy Stewart for the city’s top job in Saturday’s election.
Sim is expected to explain and address some of the key promises made during his campaign.
Describing his election as the “longest job interview ever,” Sim told supporters they would see a difference at city hall.
“ABC Vancouver was born out of a desire for change, a desire to do politics differently,” he said.

“It was born with the promise that decision in government should not be made on the advice of pollsters, lobbyists, campaigners or whatever is trending on Twitter, but should be made on the advice of parents and educators and scientists and health care providers and what’s happening in community councils and coffee shops.”

Sim and the ABC have pledged to immediately hire 100 police officers and 100 mental health nurses to tackle the city’s drug and crime problems, a campaign promise they say rang a bell.
He has pledged to pay for the new hires by finding savings from wasteful spending in the city budget.
