A chilling “manifesto” has been found on the cellphone of Walmart gunman Andre Bing, outlining his motive for the mass shooting in Virginia that left six co-workers dead and at least four other victims injured before the holiday d ‘Thanksgiving.
Memorial vigils and candlelight vigils were held in the Chesapeake area Thursday to honor the victims.
President Biden said Thursday that the shooting, as well as the massacre at an LGBTQ+ club in Colorado Springs over the weekend, underscored the need to ban “sick” assault weapons with no social value.
Witnesses have described how the gruesome events unfolded Tuesday afternoon when Bing opened fire in the employee break room as investigators tried to find a motive.
A police source told local media that Bing was “very upset” about a recent change in employment and complained that he was being “harassed” by co-workers. A former co-worker also said he was paranoid that the government was watching him and didn’t like being recorded. A witness claims he saw him target certain people during the attack.

Should we relay the name of the Chesapeake shooter?
As Americans across the country race for news of the Chesapeake Walmart shooting, a local newsroom has made an interesting decision: not to repeatedly broadcast the name of the alleged gunman.
Deciding how much to focus on the shooter’s identity after a mass killing is often a controversial choice in newsrooms.
For one thing, focusing on the perpetrator sheds light on what happened and can suggest places where authorities can look for future warning signs.
On the other hand, the identity of the shooter can often overshadow that of the victims, or even inspire copycats.
What do you think is the best way forward?

An in-depth look at what led to the Chesapeake Walmart shooting
Police said they discovered a “manifesto” of sorts on Andre Bing’s cellphone, in which he complained about unspecified changes in his employment status and what he called harassment by other staff about it. A report said that near his body, police found a list of employees he planned to attack.
As the United States marked Thanksgiving, police in Chesapeake, Virginia, were searching for clues about the mass shooting at a Walmart store, an incident whose horror has reverberated across the country, another shooting in too much shaking that occurred in the most mundane settings.
In Nantucket, Massachusetts, a vacationing Joe Biden was asked about the incident and vowed to take action to control the sale of semi-automatic weapons.
“The idea that we’re not enforcing red flag laws … is ridiculous,” he said. “The idea that we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. Just sick. It has no social redemptive value. Zero. None. There is not a single, solitary justification other than profit for the gun manufacturers.”
