Wimbledon 2022: Emma Raducanu wins debut on center court while Andy Murray starts with victory

Nadal marked his return to Wimbledon for the first time since 2019 with a win over Francisco Cerundolo, but was far from easy for the 22-time Grand Slam champion. Nadal was advancing towards a comfortable victory before Cerundolo took the third set again. Nadal was looking at the barrel to be dragged towards a decisive, but broke in the fourth before quickly sealing a 6-4, 6-3 3-6 6-4 victory in over three and a half hours.
It came after her world singles favorite, world number 1 Swiatek, opened her championships on the center court with a straight set victory over Jana Fett. I don’t know exactly how long this last game lasted, but the first set lasted 64 minutes and now we’ve played 93 minutes, but we’re only two games away from the second set.

Williams ’brilliant return facing 30-15, fitted back into the tram lines upside down before removing the winner from the straight.
30-30, and Williams follows a more aggressive game with the right to the line. Break point, but Tan’s exquisite touch saves him as he jumps to cut a shot into the net.
Williams responds with a winner for the first time off the bat from Tan’s serve, but a direct one moves shortly after a base rally.
Deuce, and this time it’s Tan’s turn to go long. No matter, she returns to the game with a good winner at the end.
Great Williams! She reads the closed shot and produces an impressive angle on the net! Now can you take your chance?
But it’s too good of Tan. First with wide service and then to continue with the reverse winner. Back to the day.

There was a brief warm-up between the players last night when the roof was closed to Andy Murray during his match against James Duckworth.
That is not the case tonight. Williams quickly runs to 30-0 before eliminating a single hit. She then drags Tan down the runway, with the world number 115 responding brilliantly, before Williams finally puts her on the net on the open runway.

Williams goes on the attack with Tan now serving for the first set.
So he can’t keep a lob in play before Williams blows after getting a right-of-way cross winner.
0-30, a chance, but Williams can’t repeat the trick as he pulls the right straight.
15-30, and this is wild again by Serena, as this pushes her right from the inside out.
So blinking the 30-30! He had control of the point after hitting Williams in the corner, but the fall shot finds the net!
Break point, but Williams fails on a first serve from Tan.
Now a lot is approaching, but there is a Willaism error when approaching the reverse. Williams tries to close out the net at point seven, but Tan responds magnificently with a brilliant direct winner.
She grabs the initial set. Wow, there were a lot of momentum changes there and Williams has it all to do now.

Williams shoots after sending a backhand winner down the line, before a drop shot is off the American.
He faces 15-30, and is unable to do enough with the catch volley, before the right lengthens.
Two breakpoints, and that’s fantastic from Tan! It’s as if the Frenchwoman is a brick wall, responding to a shot by a Williams shot. She works here to the point before finishing the rally with a live winner!

Tan is serving now to stay in this set, but stores a good right volley from midfield to go 30-0 up.
Williams makes a second serve straight to the line for a net winner.
So then he judges a good kick back that Williams can’t put back into play.
40-15, and a slice of Tan moves long.
Now a second chance, and this time the drop shot is even better. A lovely touch of Tan.

Serena with a lot of support here, as you can imagine, bounces really well here with some powerful punches.
Then on the net, a setback eliminates that point, the 40-0. She especially liked it.
Now it’s an epic rally, So so hard and it sticks to it, but over time it gets to the nets, Serena holds on.
