Apple iOS 16

Apple on Monday announced its new iPhone software, iOS 16, during its developer conference. New lock screen customization options suggest that at least one of this year’s new iPhones will have a feature that Android phones have had for years: an always-on screen.
Apple’s iOS 16 software, which is in beta and will be released to everyone this fall, lets you add all sorts of things to the lock screen. So you can quickly see the weather, battery status of your AirPods, upcoming calendar events, and more. On a current iPhone, however, you still need to tap the power button to turn on the screen.
But if Apple adds an always-on screen to your next iPhone, it will only allow you to take a look at the phone’s new lock screen while sitting at your desktop. This is something that Samsung, Google, and other Android phone manufacturers have included in their phones for years. Apple has been reluctant to add this option, perhaps to focus on longer battery life. An always active screen can slowly drain the battery, even if the screen is much dimmer.
This is the always-on display mode, which dims the screen to save battery power.

The Apple Watch Series 5 and newer models offer screens that are always on and work well. On the clock, you can look down and see the time, temperature, and certain applications, such as maps, even when the screen is not fully lit or lit. It is in a dim state, so you can still use the watch without having to move your wrist to wake it up.
A new iPhone could work the same way, showing the key information you have chosen to put on the lock screen, without having to wake up the phone to its full brightness.
Bloomberg said it is a feature that Apple is already planning to add to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the high-end models expected this fall. This means that it may not be available on the normal iPhone 14. But it could be an attractive enough feature for people to want to spend more on Pro models.
