Emi Martinez, the heroine of the shootout, has continued to troll Kylian Mbappe, who made history with an incredible hat-trick but still ended up on the losing side.
However, a major petition wants the entire work to be started from scratch, The Sun reports.
French website MesOpinions created the petition and now has almost 200,000 registered supporters who claim Argentina’s first two goals should not have stood.
First, they believe referee Szymon Marciniak got it wrong when Ousmane Dembele was adjudged to have fouled Angel Di Maria for the first penalty, which was converted by Messi.
The contact appeared minor, but it was enough to bring the former Manchester United winger down in the box.
They then argue that the second goal, scored by Di Maria, should also have been disallowed.
Argentina counter-attacked to double their lead, however, with French fans arguing Cristian Romero fouled Mbappé in the build-up.
It’s not the first time football fans have created petitions.
One was created when France were kicked out of last summer’s Euros by Switzerland on penalties.
The argument then was that Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer was off his line when he saved MbappĂ©’s shot.
But they have also found their way to these shores.
A change.org petition was set up in August to try to ban referee Anthony Taylor from officiating Chelsea games after the heavy clash with Tottenham.
