House of the Dragon Premiere Blocks Crave

Just as HBO’s House of the Dragon arrived on Bell’s Crave streaming service at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT on August 21st, reports surfaced that in some cases the platform playback will not be launched or played.

Tweets from various Twitter users highlight various issues with the streaming service not starting, the episode not playing, and Crave repeatedly crashing. In some cases, the House of the Dragon episode does not appear on the service at all. DownDetector indicates an increase in reports related to problems with Crave at approximately 9pm ET.

@CraveCanada is truly garbage. Why are the shows still working with this streaming service? #HouseofthedragonHBO has been buzzing for months. The day finally comes and Crave is completely unusable. Unreal. #Crave #GameOfThrones #HBO

#Crave has always been a steam (quality) issue, now they’ve succumbed to their limited bandwidth infrastructure and crashed for #HouseoftheDragon@CraveHelp @CraveCanada

House of Dragons launches and Crave immediately crashes across the country. Canadian telcos, people!

Very happy to keep our incompetent monopolies afloat just because they are 🇨🇦. Oh Canada!

We can’t watch #Crave because they can’t manage a popular show, and hey, didn’t they literally double the price last year? #CasadelDrac

It’s unclear how many users are affected or which Crave apps are affected.

For example, House of the Dragon appears to play on Crave’s iOS and Apple TV app (I’m currently watching the episode as I write this story). MobileSyrup has reached out to Bell for comment on the outage.

In the United States, the premiere of House of the Dragon also caused difficulties for those trying to watch the TV show through HBO Max.

House of the Dragon is set two hundred years before Game of Thrones and follows the beginning of the end of House Targaryen.

Were you able to get House of the Dragon to play through Crave? Let us know in the comments below.
