Apple has added a new feature to iOS 16 that allows users to back up their devices to iCloud using an LTE connection, as well as 5G just like iOS 15.

Apple released the second beta for iOS 16 developers on Wednesday, and its release notes include new backup features for this and iPadOS 16:

Customers using iOS 16 can now back up their device via a mobile LTE connection, as well as a 5G or Wifi connection. (95276719)

IOS 15 customers already have the option to back up their devices over a mobile connection, but it is currently limited to 5G. The new iOS 16 feature allows users to back up their devices even when 5G is not an option and they are not connected to Wi-Fi, which is definitely a welcome improvement.

Other updates in this week’s beta round include confirmation that you will no longer be able to use your iPad as a startup center. Apple has also added support for a new feature to combat email scams that shows the official logo of some companies in their emails, and the inclusion of the RoomPlan framework that will allow developers to create applications that can be used to scan rooms in 3D.

iOS 16 will hit all of Apple’s best iPhones, including the iPhone 13 and the highly anticipated iPhone 14 later this year.
